Our Community - Riverton and Districts

Riverton and Districts Information

We recommend looking at the Western Southland site for detailed information on our district and region.

The History of Riverton

The European settlement known as Riverton started as a whaling station in 1830 known as Jacobs River. This makes it one of the oldest European settlements in New Zealand.
