Accounting
Accounting - NCEA Level 1
Accounting is the communication of financial information so that users can make informed decisions. By the time you have finished this course you will have learnt how to prepare and use financial statements for different types of organizations. Along the way you will develop an understanding of the place of business in modern society and will become familiar with the language of business.
Students taking this course will be offered up to 24 credits in Accounting Achievement Standards towards the National Certificate of Educational Achievement. At Level One individuals and households, community organizations and sole proprietor businesses are studied as follows.
NZQA Unit Standards may be completed where necessary at Year 11, 12 and 13.
Accounting - NCEA Level 2
At this level we build on what has been introduced at Year 11 for a sole proprietor with an emphasis on the accounting systems which provides for the management of a business. Students taking this course will be offered up to 24 credits in Accounting Achievement Standards towards the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (Level 2) as follows.
Accounting - NCEA Level 3
This year's work builds on what has been introduced at Year 12 and the additional entities studied are partnerships and companies which may be service, trading or manufacturing enterprises. Students taking this course will be offered up to 24 credits in Accounting Achievement Standards towards the NCEA (Level 3) as follows.
Business Administration
- NCEA Level 2
Subject called BAC combines this National Certificate in Computing Level 2.Year 11, 12 and 13 students will train and be assessed in a selection of units depending on their level of ability/skill and prior knowledge.
Computer Studies
Junior
Computer Studies is covered from Year 9 onwards at Aparima College
- NCEA Level 1
Students will be assessed against a selection of NZQA Unit Standards covering keyboard, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics and navigation of the world wide web.
- NCEA Level 2
Subject called BAC combines this National Certificate with the National Certificate of Business, Administration and Computing.
- NCEA Level 3
Year 11, 12 and 13 students will train and be assessed in a selection of units depending on their level of ability/skill and prior knowledge.
Economics
Economics - NCEA Level 1
Year 11 - This year studies 3 main areas of economics.
People as Consumers - this involves decision making, wise buying, consumer laws, money.
Producers and Production - this looks at different types of businesses, how they are set, their use of resources, how they make decisions.
The Market - this studies the interaction between consumers and producers, why prices fluctuate, why we have surpluses and shortages.
Students taking this course will be offered up to 24 credits in Economic Achievement Standards towards the NCEA Level 1
Economics - NCEA Level 2
The topics studied are;
Economic growth of countries
Employment
Trade
Inflation
Inequality of wealth
Assessment will be a combination of Achievement Standard and Unit Standards gaining Credit toward the NCEA Level 2.
Economics - NCEA Level 3
In Year 13 three areas of economics are studied namely;
How the market system works
The role of government
An overall view of the workings of the economy and the effect of government policy.
Assessment will be a combination of Achievement Standards and Unit Standards gaining Credit toward the NCEA Level 3.
Legal Studies
Legal Studies - NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3
Legal Studies aims to help students understand the basic processes and principles of the New Zealand legal system and understand the role of law in society.
