Physical Education
Introduction
Through learning in Health and Physical Education students will develop the knowledge, skills and motivation to make informed decisions to act in ways that contribute to their physical well-being (hauora), the well-being of others and the community as a whole.
Physical activity encourages student to enjoy movement, to learn about the movement culture and develop positive attitudes towards regular participation in physical activities.
Junior
Physical Education is covered from Year 7 through to Year 11 at Aparima College
Outdoor Recreation
Outdoor Recreation - NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3
The two year course covers a major component of the National Certificate in Outdoor Recreation - Assistant Leadership, Level 3. If the student gains this certificate they will have a significant qualification for the purposes of vocations in the Tourism trade. The sports orientated units are also part of the National Certificate in Sport, Level 2. This certificate lays the groundwork for more specialised roles within the sport industry.
Units include bush craft, snow craft, snow sports, adventure based learning, sport coaching, yachting and kayaking

Health is covered in the junior school from Year 7 to year 10
Senior Health
Health is covered within Transitional Studies from Year 11 to Year 13
