Student Leadership
Houses + Captains
All our students are considered leaders. The skills and attitudes of leadership are developed by firstly focussing on self – ko wai au – building a strong sense of identity. Opportunities are given for our students to lead in many areas. At times students will lead community actions, events at school, our head students work across Southland in many leadership forums. Our Student Council has an active voice at school.
Each student is placed in a House. Our houses are Ōraka (house colours are yellow & black), Longwood (house colours are purple & green), Wallace (house colour is blue) and Ngāpohatu (house colour is red). Each year students compete in a range of inter-house competitions.
House captains are selected by the students at the start of each year. They have responsibilities for running inter-house competitions and lunchtime activities.
